Does anyone make their own feed? Recipes? Suggestions?
I have a couple chickens coming this weekend, my daughters friend is moving and giving me his chickens, coop etc. I have wanted chickens for a while now. I would like to feed them the best diet possible and have been reading up. What do y’all feed yours?

The best diet possible is the feed manufactured and sold in stores. Unlike humans, they aren’t marketing addictive junk food. They are marketing food that
Results in the absolute healthiest chicken possible. No health = bad results for sales of meat and eggs which means no food sales.

Mine eat Purina's Flock Raiser, a good complete feed that's always fresh (by mill date) at the feed stores here.
Ask what they have been eating, and buy a decent FRESH bag of an all flock feed at your feed store, and then some extra goodies are okay too.
Home made is difficult, and expensive, and not worth the time and effort, unless you are talking about hundreds of birds, and years of experience.
