DIY Thread - Let's see your "Inventions".

Chicken nest curtains are cool:) Measure the opening of the nest box. Cut two pieces of fabric to about the width of half the opening and hem the edges of the fabric. Attach the curtains to the outside of the nest box with staples or Velcro fasteners. Attach a piece of ribbon to either side of the opening and tie the curtains open with the ribbons

I put this on the Okie thread, and it was suggested I post it here...
Zip ties, take out containers, water nipple and some scissors--my make shift "broody didn't like the new chicks I got for her" brooder. There's also a towel and heating pad under the milk crate and a anti-fly food tent (netting) to keep 'me in the crate.

OMG how cute is that.... Do they peep alot? If they do they may be too cold..... if not its easy to fix.... But Good job on savin the babies.

Thank you! Peeping is at a minimum. I have the heating pad wrapped in a blanket and only under the half of the crate without food/water. They sleep over there, next to each other but not huddling. So sweet!
 
Here is our automatic waterer with the newly built cover to hopefully keep the water in the stainless steel pipe cooler.
