This reminds me of a neighbor who had his gas grill right outside his kitchen window...easy access for him, the landlord wasn't real happy about it tho. We've really lucked out and dialed in egg collection around here! I noticed the chickens were laying in the bush under the second floor window. Then I noticed one hen perched in a basket on the patio. Thought to put the basket down there to keep the eggs clean. Then thought.. Hmm sure is hard to retrieve these eggs. Well! Now its perfect. Easy to see when there are eggs. Both chickens love to lay in it. And retrieval of clean eggs couldn't be easier. Feeling pretty proud.![]()

-That is pretty convenient but wouldn't it be better if they used the nest boxes in the coop? What are you going to do if they decide to find a new spot? Egg hunt time!
Its always been egg hunt time!! The girls occasionally leave eggs inside the coop but never in the actual nesting boxes. Tried everything. Its like Easter everyday! Lol. They were laying under a wheelbarrow before this spot.. Funny chickens!
PS.. I can't figure out how to quote. Lol

Here is something you could try... keep them inside the coop for a couple of days without letting them go out. It may kind of force the issue. Of course, this won't work if your coop is too small to keep them "cooped up" for the number of birds you have.
I really like the basket, though![]()
