Love this idea!! The cube panels could be used to make any size and they would be easy, as you have shown, to make separate areas! I might just have to use this one!

We're working on "varmit-proofing" our chicken yard right now. My husband mentioned putting up twine or something in the yard to keep the hawks at bay. We do love out hawks though. they have kept the squirrel population down to a much more tolerable number! but they do love our gurls. :-( how far apart should the lines be? I'll be stretching the lines among the various trees in the yard. Our girls have a lot of cover in their yard - lots of azaleas and other bushes, besides the trees.

This PDF is for rainwater collection systems, but on about page 9 it describes a really straighforward way of diverting debris from your collection device.

Not sure it would be ideal for this purpose (deals more with all the crud that comes off your roof when it first starts to rain), but who knows...

When I got the eight chicks, we used a galvanized tub as a brooder. But, they outgrew that and I was afraid they'd start pecking on each other out of frustration, so, I set this up.

The "fence" is an "small pet playpen" I purchased from Petco over a year ago to use for raising two small puppies. After we no longer needed it for that purpose, we kept it for "just in case". Well, here is the "just in case"! I put the cinderblocks in to set the feeder and waterer on to keep the pine chips out. Well, the chicks weren't having that AT ALL. So, I had to move those back to the floor. I left the cinder blocks because the chicks like to hang out on them.

As you can see, pine shavings do get scattered and the plastic lining concerns me but was the best I could come up with at the moment. I'm going to have to work in design improvements for future batches of babies.

THIS IS MY NEW FAVORITE THREAD!! Srsly, I go through my DIY mag cover to cover as soon as it arrives. (I'm also a fish person, btw - have a 125 fully planted SE Asian/Amazonian FW river tank and a 29gal planted quarantine. LOVE the DIY threads on MonsterFishKeeper... those guys are totally nuts.)

I already have about 10 ideas for additional projects. Thanks for posting!
