Just a thought, what is in the middle of the insulation board? If it is anything that is fibrous and carcinogenic there might be some danger to the chicks if they eat or breathe it. Just a thought. I'm no expert but I had a cat that sleep on one and ended up dying from it.

given the time the chicks are in it I would not worry. Its not like your cat sleep in a styro box

Its foam and actually when chicks are month half old and start pecking each other you can put stirofoam in there they'll peck it and leave each other alone. Some eat it but never brothers them crazy but it works lol.

"Built" my DIY incubator today...took me a little bit to construct a feather pillow from feathers donated by free roosters I killed this winter, then the rest was put together in about 5 min. and is currently holding steady temps at 99.9 degrees. It will take 21 days to see if it will work.

Materials: Dirt, leaves and other bedding from the coop, snow, a trash bag, cardboard box, meat thermometer, handful of hay, scraps of material, feathers, heating pad with variable settings and an old Bible(for weight).

This is great I can't wait to see how things turn out.

Oh my goodness if this happens the way its planned you just gave the hubby a heartattack...he says eggs in THERE baby? Good luck!" I said "ima doing it watch" he yells me hahaha "ok, keep those babies if you can hatch um!"

Uh oh! Heh heh heh how many lovely eggs can I do at a time?

Still awaiting your results! oh my goodness longest 18*? Days left ever!

X2, Angel. I'm pretty sure that if you decide to hatch eggs, they will hatch if you have to sit on them yourself. Lol. You are a very talented and determined lady. BTW, those chickens I got from you were so delicious. My granddaughter said it was the best chicken she ever ate. Can't wait for the next nuggets to grow up. DEFINATELY want to be on your permanent list.
