Thanks for the tip!! how heavy a line? 25lb? and how far apart do you space it? abvously they dont get tangled for that was my concern

I used 50 and 80 lb fishing line. Our outer pen is positioned between the blacksmith shop and the coop. I was able to tie the lines off between the buildings. My fence is 6' tall. My husband added taller posts to the sides for me to tie the line off. Otherwise he couldn't walk in there (he is 6'4"). I just ran the lines diagonally one way and then came back the other direction. I just kept looking up and trying to picture a hawk/owl coming through.

I have tried taking pictures, but it is really hard to see.

What is that ...umm....looks like a metal can hung up on the HC to the left of the hammock.....some kind of feeder??  Nice and slim, does it work well?

Yes, I have one on each side. Called Little Giant and holds an amazing amount of water and hooks on hardware cloth. Can't put vinegar in it but pure water is perfect. I've had mine a long time with no problem. Also have a feed one in the corner that is also great.

excellent excecution.  You know seeing your perches I think I may know wny your girl sleeps in the nest.  Those perches arent big enough for big bird feet.  If you go to a two by three or a two by four and fasten it up with the wide side up You may find everyone on the perch.  BTW the way you have your perches fastened is the way I do it....

I used closet rod perches on my first coop.  the tend to want to twirl...

Thanks Deb. So far the perches have been fine. Same size as the perches in my first purchased coop. They all roost on the top one. Primrise's problem is something else. She also roosts when they let her.

Where did you get them? Can they be purchased online?

I have a question about putting clothes line up over the coop to keep predators away. I was wondering do you guys still clip your birds wings? what if I placed the lines 6 inches apart? that would be a whole lot easier than climbing up and trying to put fencing ontop of my run. I dont want to have to clip my birds wings anymore for I cant show a few I like.

I clip mine. I live in a subdivision and can't risk them going over the fence. Clothes line will not stop predators, neither will chicken wire. Hardware cloth is needed.

I bought them online but don't remember where. Google galvanized chicken waterers I tried a lot before I found these. I have a big plastic waterer in the chicken yard. These are just for nighttime in the coop.

Wow, got lucky and found it fast....http://www.thatpetplace.com/ware-chicken-hanging-waterer-silver-16-oz?sc=17&category=3480585

Thought it would work great for a cage/crate situation for a single bird....for food and water...but's it's larger than I realized - about 11" x 10"?

But this would work..... for food anyway. http://www.thatpetplace.com/ware-chicken-corner-cage-feeder-silver?sc=17&category=3480585

They come much smaller keep looking. Mine are about 6" or maybe a bit smaller. I also use it along with a corner feeder in a single bird crate, too.
