Hey if anyone here could tell me how to build a goat-proof feeder that actually works I'd be leaping for joy.... seriously.

We build a lot around here... roll away nest boxes (perfect until the hens decided the trash barrel was better...) barn doors, coops, a milking stand for the goats, this coop on wheels (built on top of a trailer) is our latest adventure. I apologize it isn't finished yet... so this is more of a tease.

I feed a whole bale at a time.... dont even snap the strings.... little reprobates. I take it in the pen on a Garden cart and leave it. But you could build a table to roll the bale underneath so they dont stand on it and piddle on it. I do not have milk goats just wethers for weeds and fun.

Here is our coop poop scoops. Made from modified cat litter scoop and wood dowel. One is made from plastic cat scoop and the other from metal. I prefer to use the metal because it doesn't flex. Easy to clean sand in coop.

Hope I'm not being a pest--could you get a close up of the metal one by chance? Wondering how you attached to dowel. Amazon has a few metal ones but not sure which kind of scoop handle would be best to attach. Great idea--thanks for posting!

You're not being a pest. DH cut scoop handle down with grinder and then sanded smooth where it wouldn't cut me. He then drilled pilot hole through scoop handle and dowel rod. He did this twice and put bolts, nuts and locking washers on them to keep in place. Forgot to add: The first time he did this, the scoop separated from the handle. He added rivets to either side of original to reinforce it.

I use a dust pan to scoop up the poop and PDZ, and pour it into a large bin, through 1/2" mesh hardware cloth. Works like a charm for me.
