We picked up 6 chicks from a local hatchery yesterday. At the hatchery, all the baby chicks, regardless of breed, were sharing the same, large brooder. They were color-banded by breed, but I happened to notice that 4 of my chicks have white stars on their heads, and the other 2 are plain black. See the pic below. The two oddballs are in the center of the pic. I'm not sure what other breeds the hatchery had, but I think he has some Black Copper Maran and Black Sexlink chicks as well. I can get better pics of the chicks if needed.

Thanks again. Just to clarify, the ones with the solid black heads are definitely NOT Barred Rocks? In other words, do all Barred Rock chicks have a white star on their head?

Thanks. I took a closer look at them during lunch and I think they are all Black Sexlinks. Looks like Barred Rocks should have yellow chests/bellies(?). These guys are solid black, with maybe a little yellow under their tail feathers.

If those are all sexlinks then the ones with white are males.
