I'm not sure where this goes, a mod can move it if they want too.

So far all 5 of my sexed chicks are getting small hard bumps about 1/4 of an inch above their back toes, just a little to the left. Recently I just found out chickens have these, at least I think they do....or is it just roosters? Do hens get them, or are they just smaller? After looking at pictures these look pretty intimidating...but since I just got nailed by hawk talons the other day it shouldn't be any different from that. Thanks in advance.

Hatchery birds that have been line bred over and over can result with spurs or small spur bumps as a result-male or female. The males are supposed to be the only ones to have the spurs, but I have some hatchery hens with them also. Also to my knowledge, game breed hens also have spurs, but they're supposed to. Hatchery bred females' spurs aren't usually very long, and are usually pretty dull to the touch.

Chances are, your sexed chicks (assuming they are hens) are sexed correctly and will grow to have small, short, dull spurs. You'll hardly notice them from far away.
