Can I clean the chicken coop while pregnant?

Anyways I saw two women in that thread that I found who actually spoke with their obs who said it was fine with proper sanitation.

Sometimes you have to ask this stuff because you just don't know. I had a ton of questions for my midwife at my last appointment so I simply forgot this one. There's a lot that's unsafe during pregnancy that you wouldn't even think about...like deli meat. So it's more of a fair question than you believe.

Well Ninjasquirrell - I didn't say the question had not come up before, or total strangers without medical training, would spout off with some questionable opinions.

I said, and still think, one should not take medical advice from a bunch of crazy chicken people whom one will never meet. The advice needs to come from this persons doctor or midwife. Who has met her and understands the whole situation.

And I said I would. When I have the opportunity. Right now I don't so I'm asking the community. It's really sad that I had to go back 14 years just to find some positivity on this site. Geez.

Histoplsmosis was another concern?
An N95 mask that fits well wuold be a good idea.
All she mentioned was bird flu. But yea I've got n95s and respirators and disposable gloves. I only asked here because I was hoping someone else might have spoken to their ob about it because, as you can see, it took me a while to get an answer from mine

This is your one chance to push off as much to the husband as you can without guilt. Take advantage of it! Very soon you'll be back in caretaker mode and will be juggling chickens, kids, and everything else a woman has on her plate. Take advantage while you can, sit back and enjoy the last of your (relative) freedom

I agree though that medical questions are best asked in a medical setting, not online. I would not be trusting random people with my health.

I'm not a mooch. Nor have I ever been. I'm not comfortable sitting around and watching someone do all my work for me. Maybe some people are but not me.

And again, I was asking in hopes someone who has been in this situation spoke to their ob and found out before me. Anyways I got my answer from my midwife as posted above. This used to be a helpful community in which we all helped each other out and communicated what we knew. Guess it's not anymore.
