Do all chickens like BOSS?

I have come to realize that not all chickens are the same. I read that they love tomatoes. Threw one in from the garden and they pecked it, but that was it. I had read enough on here about BOSS that I was excited to give them some from my flower bed and they turned their nose up at it. :D
I also wonder if because they were free ranging before that they just haven’t tried all of these new foods yet. I’m just trying to make sure they are happy birds.
Mine won't eat tomatoes either....Or Bird seed..Meaning Wild Birds food ..Boss...

It can be surprising what they will or won't eat. I toss a lot of extra stuff from the garden to them, I never know what they will or won't eat.

I'll repeat a word I used earlier, moderation. It's not how much is in one bite, it's a total of how much they eat in a day, and even that is averaged out over a few days. That's a big reason I don't worry about what I give them out of the garden or kitchen scraps. Over the course of a few days it averages out.

Another trick some (not all but some)people that show chickens use is to trickle a little oil on their feed. Again, it doesn't take much, but that little bit of extra shine to the feathers might make the difference in whether they get a prize or not. We all have different goals for having chickens. For some of us one thing is more important than others.

Mine will eat BOSS but it has to be in that songbird food from cornell with the cherries and peanuts "spoiled chickens ".I turned one of my girls into a motorboat feeding her rice with coconut oil to clean the plumbing..i never knew chickens were musical. :lau
I only once used a dollop of Margarine on a constipated Chicken...Fed it to her I mean in food ...Lol she actually farted...Got a poopy butt she but she was okay...:lau

Mine get whatever BOSS spills out of the bird feeder as I fill it. They do enjoy it. But as noted, not all birds like the same things... mine won't eat any lettuce or bread (which a lot of people say their chickens enjoy.)

My girls loved fresh sunflower seeds, still tender on the flower. They turn their nose up at the dried ones I’ve saved for them. But they love the BOSS I just offered them recently. Showed no interest in tomatoes when they were in season. Toward the end of summer, they started taking them off my plants and now fight over even unripe ones. Finicky fluffy butts.

The lighting in this photo is amazing. It looks like a stage set from a Dolly Parton special or Hee Haw or maybe a setup for a Lawrence Welk quartet.

:p
Well thanks....My Dad popped into my head....He has been gone 24 years...Thanks you made me smile....:hugs

This is definitely a newb question - how do you know they are constipated?
