Do all duck eggs smell swampy?

My girls' eggs used to smell so bad and taste exactly like they smelled, they were so nasty. They didn't smell like that this year for some reason. They are free-ranged during the day and have both pools at night and two nearby ponds that they go to during the day. I have a new feed this year. I'm wondering if that's what changed things? I never wash mind either, and they still don't stink up like they used to.

I've never sniffed our eggs before (from our chickens or ducks) but duck eggs are usually always dirty in some way.

All our chicken eggs are squeaky clean but our ducks lay in gravel bags, on the floor in the open, lay then poop on the eggs and also like to play football with them and roll them in the mud.

Once they're clean they're still edible and I haven't noticed a smell.

The only thing I have noticed with duck eggs is that they leave a kinda 'poopy egg' after-taste after eating them. The chickens don't.

I love our duck eggs more than chicken eggs but when that taste is there and it's noticeable I'm just kinda like :sick
