Do all roosters attack kids?

So far i have had 3 roosters. My first was a buff orpington and he was mean, Not to me but to women in general he attacked them alot and he attacked my 3 year old nephew, never from the front it was always a sneak attack. He was a goner as soon as he attacked him, my second was a SLW. He was mean to the girls, very rough with them. So i got rid of him too. I now have a Black ameracauna and he is a great roo. He doesn't have much to do with human, he likes to keep his distance.

just like ours!!

Ya i rehomed him fast cause if only goes downhill from there. As i suggest you do with yours. If you are going to get a roo i would get one thats very well mannered and around 2 years old. That way if you want babies he can make them and he will teach them how to be good roosters.

You know, it's not only roosters who attack, I have a buff orpingtion HEN who is always trying to find ways to dominate me. Whether it's jumping on my back to put me in a submissive position, pecking me very hard on the arm, or jumping and scratching my FACE while I'm not looking. I always re-establish dominance over her though. What's funny is that she is my largest hen, but is lowest in the pecking order! Highest, A WHITE LEGHORN!!!! My BO might as well sit on the WL if she is looking for dominance. But I think she's taking a shortcut by taking me over.

You will go nuts if I told you my age.....

I have two children currently 6 and 10 (on the 1st my son turned ten

)and we've had chickens for 3-4 years now. So sorry your son got hurt! I do NOT think you should tolerate bad behavior in roos. We have had only three roosters that have remained good with my kids (and one of those got taken out by a dog

). Two being bantam cochins. One was barred (altho I must say I gave a bantam barred cochin away that was reported to go after the family's kids that I gave him to) and was always good with my kids. Our mottled bantam cochin roo is OUTSTANDING. He even went to my kids' preschool 2 years in a row and let all the kids hold him.

This year he went to my daughter's kindergarten and also let all the kids hold him.

He is the favorite chicken we own and the kids love to go find him and carry him around and he is always good. We have a speckled sussex roo (LF) (that was supposed to be a pullet lol) that is just over a year old and he has never once acted like he would go after any of us. We got 4 black copper marans chicks this year - one of which is a cockerel - that seems to be very sweet (altho he is not yet mature). We are keeping our fingers crossed with him

- but if he turns nasty he is GONE!!!

I wish you luck!!
