Do any of you have multiple coops?

I have a 6x6 coop with 7 chickens.

Now I want about 15 more. I think I have to build another coop. The old man is really looking forward to this--(not)

I want around 15 chicks in April. I cannot put 7 week old chicks in with year old hens......

I was thinking of another chicken coop next to the origional one. With a breezeway to eventually connect them......

Well, how do you all deal with the chicken math problem?

Is it crazy to have multiple coops all over?

I don't have multiple coops but I know that a lot of people do...

LOL My Dad won't let me have any more than what will fit in my new 8 X 11 1/2 foot coop

! When I get some chicks in the spring, we plan to "weed out" a bit...

But I hope someone else will chime in!

I have 3 big coops, and 2 small ones. 2 of the big coops are duplex. ( wire in the middle with seperate pop doors)l I have several different colors of Old english bantams I want to keep seperate. Late in the afternoon, I let them out one pen at a time for about an hour. I have 42 chickens.

Just so ya'll will know my DH says NO ONE has multiple coops.....NO ONE!

That said....first we got 29 chicks. Had over half of them roosters. Roosters were rehomed and went to freezer camp. The remaining roosters had the chance to get along. When the first fight broke out I removed the BR roo, The Lone Rooster, to the chicken tractor. My DH was working out of state so I started trying to build a new coop. He came home and laughed at me and got out the 7 ft chain link fence that I bought at an auction and put it up for me. And then he laughed at the dog house I rigged up on a platform for the LR. So when he came home from out of state and continued to make fun of my arrangement for the LR he took pity on me and made a duplex out of the original coop by adding on to it. Now I have the LR and his five girls...want to keep them pure. THEN the cochin roo finally stepped up and wanted a girl for himself and the BO roo said heck no and I had to remove another rooster.

I made a corner in the big run for the cochin. It ain't purty. But it keeps him in and now it keeps his two new girls in with him.

Gee....that make three, doesn't it?

THEN, my DGD, who is my chicken partner, bought two EE's. Brought them home and into the chicken tractor they went for quarantine.
(oh, I forgot the chicken tractor...that kinda makes four, doesn't it? and I built it myself!!) Now they are in the big pen and coop. Still waiting on my DH to build the coop for the cochins. They have shelter....and it is working for now and I did it myself and it ain't pretty. Not any prettier than the corner I made for them.

But my DGD is working on my DH and explaining to him just why we need another coop....and she says it might as well be another duplex! Smart partner I have there!!

So, yeah, I have multiple coops. And it isn't over yet.

But just so you all will know my DH says NO ONE has multiple coops and run. EVERYONE simply throws all their chickens in together. And so you will know NO ONE quarantines their new chickens either!! The man simply won't give it up.

We recently added the second coop. Used to be DH's harley shed. Took alot of whining on my part.

So much easier than trying to intergrate chickens, even if my first coop was big enough, which its not.

The way I see it, got 80 acres. Might as well fill em with chicken coops (but DH says any future ones will have to come pre-built).

I started with one coop. But when chicks hatched, I built another, and last year built one more so I could get more chickens. Never thought I would have this may chickens but they slowly arrived

I have 1 of my barns split in half & Royal Palm turks & Red Shouldered Yokohamas get 1/2 & Salmon Faverolles & EE hens get the other side. I have 3, 16'x16' pens outside of that filled with Pigeons, Quail, & Peafowl. I NEED MORE PENS!!

I have 3 coops one for the ducks and geese, one for all the chickens, and the other for chicks

might have to add another coop this spring or add on to the duck coop
