do any of you have trouble selling your eggs

Quote:
Thanks, glad you liked them.
And yes I forgot about the NPIP thing, that's pretty much manditory to sell out of state. Several states , like the Dakotas also require that they are A.I (avian influenza) tested too. There's no way you'll ever be able to know all the states individual laws, so dont worry to much about that. I always tell the buyer to check with their state to be sure it's all legal, as for chickens, I dont know of any with proplems with that, other than the NPIP and AI testing. Turkeys, especially my wilds are a different story...

We have orders for 350 dozen next week and won't have enough eggs to go around. We are adding another 800 hens this year and that still may not be enough. Being able to sell your eggs and the price you get depends on how close to a large population center you are. We are between Lincoln and Omaha Nebraska and never seem to have enough eggs.

i live in a smaller farming town about 45 minutes from indianapolis and 30 minutes from terre haute so i will probably just ship because there are a few breeders here but all we do is exchange eggs and buy and sell from each other but you have to out source somewhere. so that is why im gathering information because its about time to start selling and buying eggs.

If only the best of the best eggs sold. Not very many eggs would be getting bought. Think about it. the best of the best is very few birds. In my experience with most things livestock, run of the mill is where the heavy traffic in buying and selling is. If you want grand champions you will very likely spend far more money getting there than you will ever recover. but a nice quality bloodline is what most want, can afford and will buy.

How it works is this.

Step 1: You would send me photos of your birds to put on the website, description, terms and conditions, and pricing.

The products would be put up for sale on the website. Monthly Purely Poultry has 24,000 visits with an average of 3.5 minutes per visit on the site. 140,000 page views.

When an order is placed I would email you a packing slip which would be the label on the box. Reply to the email stating when you expect to be able to ship. I will inform the customer of the ship date.

Ship the products directly to the customer.

Send me an invoice on the products and I can pay with paypal or check.
