Do bantam cochin pullets feather faster than the cockerels?

I have 20 st. run 2-week-old bantam cochins, and some are exhibiting extreme wing-feather growth, while some are hardly exhibiting any, but all are healthy and active. So is this just random, or is it a reflection on gender?

I was also wondering: do white bantam cochins carry the dominant or recessive white gene?

Females usually feather in faster. Their behavior can be a giveaway as well. Girls are more stand-offish sometimes.
