Do bearded Silkie roos have distintive combs and wattles?

Some guesses just for fun.

1) Black hen - has the hen stance and shape and no streamers

2) Can't see the face, head or overall shape, so could be either.

3) White Rooster - looks like he has streamers, plus, you think it is a rooster - you are reacting to behavioral observations which I generally find are correct with mixed sex groups of birds - but only for the dominant males, so he is likely a dominant male.

4) Black hen - same reasons as #1

5) Unknown

6) Same as #2

I just use fingernail clippers. Easier to have some one hold the bird and you cut the beak, just pinch the beak closed,(he won't like it- but if you hold firm they will stop struggling) and trim what is white. Do not clip the beak that is blueish as it will start to bleed, its like the quick in dog or cat claws.

Well, I did the deed. Actually it was not difficult at all. I had my husband hold Jasper (who cooperated nicely) and I took my dogs toenail clippers and clipped the long point and then took my fingernail clippers and evened it out. Took Maybe 10 minutes total. Of course Jasper no longer thinks he's an eagle, but after a few hours he(?) was the same sweet personality that he (?) was before. I'll try and get a picture of Jasper tomorrow so you can see how BEAUTIFUL he (?) is now.

Do the roosters get more kind of like real feathers on their tails?

I wouldn't say that any of them act more dominant than the others except Jasper. When I got them I put them in with 10 2 wk old chicks that I had hatched (RIR's and mixed breeds. There was never a problem with anybody except good old Jasper. That's why I always call Jasper - him. He just acts more manly than any of the others. He got into a knock down drag em out with my 1 little Birchen Cochin that has never picked a fight in her life. She is 3 years old and just kinda wattles around looking cute. But she knocked the snot out of Jasper. I found Mollie holding some of Jaspers feathers in her mouth, but Jasper WAS NOT going to back down. It was all quite comical. I had to applaud Mollie for finally sticking up for herself.

So tonight everyone can sleep tight knowing that Jaspers beak is trimmed and beautiful.
