do birds of prey kill full grown ducks?

We have 50 acres but are only 500 m from the town centre. On our land we have nesting sea eagles, owls, and different varieties of hawks. Because of the space required for the eagle to get lift off he doesn't come into the garden, but I have seen him take ducks off the water. The hawks are far more cunning, they will land in and hop right in to the coop to take your birds. I have dogs and goats in my garden and day pens. We have juvenile eagles ATM and like teenagers they are prone to making mistakes. Lucky for us , it's snake season and mum and dad are catching their fair share of tiger snakes, for the family dinner table. This is mum or dad watching my chooks.

What beautiful pics, now will kookaburras take ducklings? they look to small to take on a full size duck.

Yes, a kookaburra will take eggs and chicks. Mind you I have seen a kookaburra take a rather large rat by the tail and smack it's head against a tree. He will also take on juvenile snakes.

They remind of KingFishers in size are they about that size? we have King fishers on our river. We also have Blue Jays that will take chicks and eggs and possibly ducklings but have never had one get that close here with the adults around.

Truffles seems to be recovering slowly.
I have moved him indoors and I am keeping him quite and calm in a large dog crate. He may still be in shock. He's not moving, eating or drinking much. Barely ate a handful of peas, which he adores! He has puncture wounds, one at his jaw line, his left eye and wing. His left eye has not opened yet,. I am treating him with Vetericyn. Hoping for a full recovery! The other 5, were moved from their open pen. We have moved them closer to the house and placed them in a large 10x10, covered dog pen for now. It will be easier to take care and watch over them. It will have to do, until spring! With the snow storms and frozen ground, we are not digging anytime soon!
:confused:I am hoping that they will accept Truffles back into their clan when he recovers?

Are you spraying the eye with the Vetericyn too? it's safe to do that. how do his wounds look? It can take a while but hopefully he'll fully recover. Please keep updating on how he is doing.
