I have another post with pics a few posts down, but had another question. Do Black Copper Marans get combs fast whether they are roos OR hens? Thanks. MIne are 3 weeks old, and some are developing combs faster than other kinds of birds.

Just roos!

I was able to determine the gender of my BCMs after only 5 days. The cockerels had darker reddish combs. Combs were getting bigger really fast compared to the pullets combs.

I too easily knew my roo's at 3 weeks with my BCM's.
Mine are 5 wks old and at 3 weeks I could tell the roos. They seem to develop the combs early.
Darn it. 😅
I ordered six females. One failed to thrive and one is clearly developing a comb and wattles at four weeks that is beyond anyone else's. That's four left. But the ones I think are females are still developing combs faster than my other breeds.
Thanks for the thread. ;)

Pictures?
Sure :)
The one is obviously a boy, including behavior. I believe the rest are females and all have the combs of the chick in the first/upper pic. They just seem a little faster to develop than my other breeds but maybe it's just because they're bigger birds.
