My DD came home with a pet pass from school Friday giving her permission to bring a pet to school. Of course I will bring the pet up there and of course she wants me to bring her favorite chicken!

I think the chicken will handle the situation well, but I need to figure out some way to keep her from messing the carpet.

Do diapers really work. They are a bit pricey so I want to make sure it will do the job. It would be nice to let her in the house from time to time. Does the diper stand out from the chickens back side or do you have to give them a bath after they've worn one? If you have a picture of your chicken wearing one I would love to see how they fit.
Thanks

Making your own is beeter because yoiu can adjust to fit your chicken, I like using flannel ans a waterproof material sewn in.

I cut up puppy pads into small squares and place in my silkies diaper. Works great. Her diaper also has a sewn in liner... I empty it out once a day before she goes back to her cage or if she lays an egg.. hehe... Make sure it has the velco on their back and loops that go over the wings... I've tried others that wrapped around the neck or so that didn't fit mine well.....

I
have a little rooster who is often in our house, sometimes with a pair of little-boy-bvd's tied on, size small 4-6x. But this coloring page looks like a nice outfit for a chicken!

But since he's been eating mostly Purina Layena pellets, his poops are magnificently nice, not stinky or runny. It only took a few days on the Purina Pellets. Its still chicken poop, part white, but easy to grab up with a Kleenex (as easy as rabbit poops, I guess), so making sure the poops are nice might be a good idea to avoid the "eewww" factor.

Also, dont give snacks to the chicken until AFTER the visit at the school. Or, let the kids feed her a lettuce leaf or whatever during the last 5 minutes of the visit.
