Do chickens calm down after they begin laying?

I've posted about my insanely high strung chicken before. She is absolutely nuts. I kind of feel bad for her. She runs and flys everywhere and is always acting like she's being hunted down for dinner! I know she is getting closer to laying since her waddles and comb are getting huge and her face is getting red. Do you think she'll calm down after she starts laying? Is she going through some sort of hormonal teenage stage? I've only had her for maybe 6 weeks so I do'nt know if she's always been like this. When I first got her she wasn't this crazy, but maybe now that she's used to her new home she's showing her true colors!

Would love to hear your crazy chicken stories and I'll keep hoping she'll chill once she pops out an egg or two!
