do chickens eat garden worms? (pics)

In my experience, japanese bettles are the one bug chickens will NOT eat. They must taste horrible. We would pick them off our plants and throw them at the hens.... BUT they would still not eat them.

You could try supervised field trips into your garden for your hens. They can have some good buggie eats, but not destroy you plants. I find a good time is when i am weeding in the garden.

They will eat every green living thing off the earth if you give them enough time in a small enough space. But, if you want to experiment with letting them into your garden, I would recommend letting them in for an hour or two at a time and see how much they eat (under supervision).

Having my chickens around but not in my fenced garden eliminated my grasshopper infestation.

They will devour any leafy crops like lettuce and broccoli. They will not eat tomato plants but will eat the fruit.

The biggest problem is they will dig and dustbathe everywhere. Plants will be uprooted as collateral damage.
