Do chickens ever fly over things without stopping at the top?

My white leghorns & brown leghorns can clear 5ft w/o touching the top. They are flighty birds. They get clipped. The Easters can almost, but can't- but still try.
Rocks/javas/austra's/buffs/reds are too big of a bird.
My Dotte's are good flight birds.
I placed a hot wire/ground wire set up above my egg house run. It extends the fence up to about 5-1/2', but the leg horns think they are seagulls.. Pain in the butt they are. Thank God there are only 24 of them.
My leghorns have never tried to fly over my 6 foot fence. I feel lucky.

Mostly mine have stopped at the top though I had a Cubalaya that flew from the back yard around the little barn and to the door of the big barn. That would be about 100' in the air and over a 4' fence

Yes they can fly! I picked up a pair of GEMs (cream leg-bar/white leghorn) this spring, when they hit over 20 feet in the air flying around the yard, I clipped wings! (only 1 per bird) They did turn and not go over the fence, but how long would that last? They have not been airborne since.
Chicks will fly, and if they go over the fence, I then clip their wings. The more they use them the further they can go.
