Do chickens ever lightly peck you just to say "Hello"?

Just being a Chicken. They peck lots to see if they can eat it. Definitely interested in food.

Yes, I have two that will come up and pull on my clothes when I'm sitting out there with them. They also peck at my wedding ring, but not hard. What creeps me out is when I pick a big kale leaf and hold it for them and they want to eat the part closest to my fingers and I can see them looking at them, THAT gives me the creeps!

Two of mine will peck at my clothing but especially the top of my gumboots. I thought they were eating bugs or dirt, took me a while to realise they were actually eating my boots. I'll find them on my deck pecking away at the fake lether. Boots look terrible now lol.

so do any of you discipline the chickens in a certain way to discourage them from pecking at you? I'd personally swat them away. Does this help establish the proper pecking order or do you find they just keep pecking away?

To "discipline" them like another chicken would, poke the back of their neck like a gentle but firm quick JAB with a finger. They'll get the idea fast.

Gracie my dark Brahma and Lizzie B my barred rock who are the same age 3 month, loooveeee to peck my teeth so I have learned not to lean toward them when I talk LOL if they are sitting on my shoulder or on a chair near my face i see them waiting for the moment to peck at my teeth. I usually have to cover my teeth with my lips.

My chickens don't peck me hard, it's usually just the clothing, once in awhile they get skin, they peck at my toenail polish, my Pandora charms, rings. they love my polka dotted pants.

My polish recognize me by my toenail polish or my chicken slogger boots lol. they can't see up because of their hair only down
