Do chickens get hemorrhoids?

The reason I ask is because I have 1 RIR that will only lay about every 3-4 days and every time she lays the eggs is covered in blood. It kinda worries me. Is there something I should do?

I don't think they get hemorrhoids but I've been wrong before. If it were one of my girls I would get some vinyl gloves and vaseline at the drug store. After examining her vent to see what is wrong if anything, I would put on a glove, and apply a decent amount of vaseline (not too much but don't be skimpy) on the outside of her vent and a little way inside. Maybe to the first knuckle of your finger. She might have a small wound that tries to heal but can't because another egg comes along and stretches the tissue and reopens the area.

Have someone hold her firmly but gently for you so she feels safe and talk to her while checking her over. Try not to scare her. Do this once a day until the bleeding stops. After it stops do it for at least 3 or 4 more days.

Hope this helps!
