Do chickens have enough sense to get in out of the rain?

My girls have just recently figured out the ladder going into the coop from the run. Our weather is going to be iffy with showers off and on the next couple of days. I hate to leave them in the coop all day long if it is only going to rain a few minutes and then stop for an hour or two. I just don't know if they have sense enough to get in out of the rain. My Aunt had a turkey who didn't once and I guess that is why I'm wondering about the chickens.

Sometimes if it is a soft warm rain they really enjoy running around in it. Mine go after the worms. I always worry about the violent storms, even though we have a lot of dense bushes close to the house. I leave the barn door open enough for the to get in, but storms don,t seem to bother them.

So what y'all are saying is that chickens have more sense than my border collie does!

Sorry couldn't help myself.

Really?! I guess it just stuck in my brain from the tiny chick days to make sure they stay dry. I would definitely go put them in if it is going to get stormy, but I suppose I won't sweat the sprinkles. They do have some covered spots in the run too so maybe they would get under there. It sounds though that they enjoy a shower and I am just a worried old Mama Hen. Thanks for the fast replies!
