I know that season is a little ways off, but when I pick them off my plants, can I plan on turning the beetles into eggs? I am very excited because the feed store has them in, and my chicken tractor came today, so I'll be getting some on Saturday and putting them in the brooder--I'm a first timer! My mom is already pointing out weeds for my daughter to pick for them.

My chickens ate them off the bushes. As a matter of fact, I'm thinking of getting one of those pheromone lures, to get all that free protein into the pen!

I think chickens like anything that they can eat that is small and moves around

Mine sure do.

Great! I am glad to dispose of them to something useful. I do hate to just have them drown in buckets of water for no purpose (except sparing my plants their nibbles!)

I hang the pheromone lures where the chickens can grab the beetles. They'll nab them right out of the air. They love them.

Before I had chickens, I dumped barrels of dead beetles into the fields.

So very glad to hear it! Between the pole beans and the Rose of Sharon, I had THOUSANDS of them last year. They're fairly easy to catch but the numbers were overwhelming and my poor beans had lace for leaves.
