Do chickens need to be taught to go in/roost at night?

Just a follow up. All 5 made it up there! I put the heat light up there, because it got cold and almost immediately they went up to see what has going on. It's been warmer and therefore no light/heat but they've all been up!
I did NOT put food or water up there, nor did I raise the ladder.

I guess to answer my own question- they need some light at first, then they figure it out on their own!
