Do chickens really get lice and mites?

Make sure to use Food Grade DE not the pool stuff.

Don't stress over it, I have had chickens for quite awhile and I have never had a parasite problem.

Yes, chickens can get lice and mites, but over the past four years of keeping chickens I have never encountered anything nor have I dusted them with DE or sprayed them. I wouldn't worry too much until you see them. You can always just buy some DE and let your chickens dust bathe in it with sand/dirt to help prevent anything
