Do chickens slow down and get quieter when weather gets colder?

As the weather has got colder here in the UK my chickens have stopped laying which I expected but they also seem to have really quietened down, and stopped moving around so much. It seems to me like almost like they’ve gone into a sort of semi hibernation state! They still potter around from time to time and they are eating and drinking fine and go crazy for sunflower seeds and other treats but a lot of the time they just sit quietly. They just seem kind of pensive! Any expertise and advice you can offer me? I don’t think they’re ill but maybe there are things I should check for? They’ve been recently declared free of worms, and no sign of any mites or lice. They’re currently moulting.

Their lack of boisterous activity is likely due to them moulting given they are worm and parasite free.
I don't know what the weather is like where you are but down here in the South West the wind has meant most are just huddled up tryinng not to get blown away.
