Do chickens stop breeding in the winter.

Hi all. May be a silly question but we're new to this chicken breeding this year.
we buy all our eggs and hatch them ourselves in our incubators. But today when collecting my eggs the fella told me that he's birds were moulting and fertility would start to die down for the year.if this is true would it be worth us stopping spending money on eggs throughout the winter if the fertility is lower. Or is it perfectly ok to carry on. We dont spend more than £1 per egg so nothing expensive.
Thanks.

The fertility I would imagine remains the same, but the chances of getting eggs in the winter are slim because of molting and lack of daylight hours.

If the chicken is in its* first year of laying she may continue to lay through the winter with additional/superficial light.
