do chickens talk back ?

I have a few girls who are big talkers. I think it's mostly cussing me when I don't have snacks, but sometimes I will get the cute good morning chatters. My sapphire gem likes to sit with me anytime I'm relaxing outside. She usually gets comfortable near me and we will chat. Its kind of interesting how they listen and then chatter back. Maybe in some universe we can understand each other. 🤷‍♀️
Garden of Eden!

I have always talked with my chickens but the three Silkie bantams I have now are the chattiest I have owned. I say Good morning when I open the run and Good night as I shut it and they always answer. Kiri is the loudest, ‘my bum feels weird’ when she is going to lay and demanding treats when I am gardening. They chat constantly to each other, warn the cat and listen to the garden birds. I love it.

All of mine talk to me! Including my rooster. My sapphire gem is the most responsive. She's the lowest in the pecking order and most of time I generally get the impression she is tattling on her flock mates. "Mom she was picking on me". Lol my rooster will answer back when you call his name. All of them know their name and will readily come when they are called. What I'm still trying to figure out is why the run to greet my cat. I really want to know what was said lol.

I know this may sound weird but do chickens talk back or talk with us? whenever mine see me (the ones that i raised from when they were baby chicks not the older ones in the flock) walk up to me and start making small clucking noises and look at me and like tilt their head or if I talk first they reply and they come up close and look at me and sometimes try to eat things off me or rub their beak on me or sit across me and do small clucking noises I can’t tell if this is normal for chickens or if they’re communicating something but advice would be super helpful ty 😅 the cockerels do this too not just the pullets if that helps
Mine do.

Some do, yes. I have a chatterbox that sometimes follows me around and just squawks loudly (a few others do it, but with much softer sounds). Her worst habit is sometimes if hubby and I are both out there and talking to each other, she'll decide to join in the conversation - if we tell her "Enough!" or yell her name, she'll hop up on a roost so she can scream louder and closer to eardrum height, until it's impossible to talk at all.
Mine talk to me one is very vocal sounds like she is saying hello so funny and cute she follows me around to she would come right into the house if I would let her.

I'm sure that my Barred Rock hens communicate with me and my husband. I've recognized at least 8 different sounds coming from them. I keep reading about the egg song, but I think mine are screaming, 'what came out of my butt'! I don't think it sounds like a song.
I like chatting with them. Yak, yak, yak, please talk back :)
