Do Chicks Prefer

... to hatch in light, darkness, or no preference?

The only information I've read relating to this is that chicks tend to be more "calm" at night when using a red bulb in a brooder as opposed to a clear or frosted one. Chicks naturally hatch in a dark place (beneath their mama's belly), but I wouldn't be surprised if someone told me that chicks hatching in the light would try to be more active than chicks hatching in the dark. So overall I'd have to go with "no preference", but I definitely have more theory than experience under my belt!

Those were my theories and ponderings as well. I noticed that one egg chirped when I put the light on it, but it only happened a couple of times.
