My house roo, who is spoiled, hand fed, etc. does that when he wants some food or something to drink. Yes, he has feed and water available all the time, but he doesn't always want THAT. Like, instead of the waterer, he wants to drink out of a bottle cap or a baby bottle top....So if you spoil them and are their only source of food, maybe they want you to give them something "special."
