Do Cochin Bantams Lay Sooner?

I went out to collect eggs before the hens went to bed as we were at the beach all day.
I found a small egg in the nesting box and assumed that either Rusty or Tiny(Snow White) had laid their first egg but wasn't sure. I can easily recognize Mouse's(Silkie mix) eggs so I know it wasn't hers.
I don't have a photo as my clumsy self tripped and smashed it

Do Cochin Bantams lay sooner than standard breeds?

By the way, Rusty and Tiny are 1 week shy of being 4 months old in case it helps with telling who laid the egg.

My Cochin bantam was about 9 months old before she finally laid an egg!! Went broody about 2 months later :/

Mine was about 5 months.

I tried to search for information about this and didn’t find much.
I have 6 bantam pullets and would love to know if they start later or what.

Not necessarily. It really depends on the bird. People say that the production breeds tend to start laying younger but even then sometimes they don't.

I don't know what breeds tiny and rusty are but to answer your general question, cochins are rather slow to mature and don't normally lay till at least 24 weeks. A bantam shouldn't have laying characteristics much different than their LF counterparts.

I put what breeds that Tiny and Rusty are in the post. Did you not read that they are Cochin Bantams??

I got my answer! It was either Rusty or Tiny! I'm so happy.
I can't tell which one it was as they both are doing the same thing when I pick them up and were both inspecting the nesting box. They were our last pullets of the flock to start.
Now we just wait until our 3 chicks grow up.
Right now, 11 birds laying!

I read the entire post.
Your first post mentions silkie crosses. You could have other breeds. It asks if bantams lay sooner, but it never specifically said Tiny and Rusty were cochins.
