Do roosters/cockerels do the all over body shake like pullets/hens? I've only owned hens, so I don't know.

My two and a half week old EE/BR does this hen shake after I hold it several times now. My older hens do it constantly, but not until before they laid their first egg. I did vent sex carefully and did not see a "bump" on this chick(Willow). The other chick I vent sexed had a bump and at 2.5 weeks has a pink comb. The boy Stormy is so sweet too.

I'm really praying this is a pullet sign. I'm naturally obsessed finding out the gender. I hatched this chick myself, but I am having doubts its a female since the comb is on the larger size. It's not pink like it's brothers comb, so there's a small glimpse of hope. Anyways, these chicks are super chicks and the boy is 80% feathered already. They both have head feathers coming in at 2 weeks. Talk about fast feathering!

Here's Willow that does that shake after holding and petting. I really want my two EE/BR to be female. I love, love, love, the looks of them.

That is a hard question. I think it just varies from bird to bird. Some of my hens shake and others don't. My d'Anvers roo does.

It is really hard to decide gender when they are that young. I had one that looked like a roo when he was born and the other one took 9 weeks and all of a sudden he looked like a rooster.

I would love to hear what other people say, I've never really thought about their shaking behavior before.

Adorable chick by the way

If you're stating the parents correctly, you can sex the chicks by barring or lack thereof. You say they're ee/br cross, that indicated the ee is the rooster and the barred rock is the hen. Barred rock hens only pass the barring gene on to their sons, so any chick that had a white headspot or now shows barring is a male. Sorry, your pic didn't come through.

The dad was the barred rock, so it makes sexing a whole lot harder.;)

Here's Willow, the one in question.

The photos are poor quality and fuzzy.  Taken from my iPod touch.

who guessing game my guesses are

cockerel
pullet
cockerel

again just guessing

My guess is the same.  Marble is 1/2 the size as Willow.  The legs are much shorter too.  Maybe I'll get lucky and get two girls.;)

My luck, they are all boys.:/ I do hope to get lucky and have both barred EE's as girls.
