Do dark eggs take longer to hatch?

I'm on day 21 with eggs of mixed colors in the bator and all of the lighter eggs have hatched but the dark ones are doing nothing. Has anyone else had this happen?

I can't imagine that the color of the egg makes any difference. It's probably just coincidence that the ligher colored ones hatched first.

You know what I have noticed? I have the LG still air and the eggs directly under the heating tube are all hatching first. Maybe they are staying warmest so they are hatching faster? I haven't noticed a difference in the hatching based on color though?

Yes they're all chickens. Silkies hatched first, then leghorns and 2 blue eggs, and one light olive, but my dark marans and dark olive eggs are quiet. They looked good at candling but now I'm getting worried.

I have hatched Black copper marans and wheaton maran (2 different breeders) and both hatched a day or more after the light brown eggs...thought it was just me!! lol I have also noticed a much lower hatch rate compared to other eggs from same breeders. No idea!

We are on our 4th mixed hatch this year and if the eggs are good, a breed seems to hatch together. And yes, now that you mention it, the marans are always the last and with a lower hatch rate.

Thanks for the replies. My hatch was going so well and then everything stopped, with all those dark eggs still in there. if there's no action in the morning I'm gonna be bummed! We'll see what happens. I'll update tomorrow!
