Do different breeds of chickens get along?

I haven't gotten chickens yet,

but I'm just about done with my coop. I need to know what the best breeds are for me. This is my first time getting chickens. I live in texas. Also, will different breeds get along?

I was wanting an EE and wyandotte and others but I need help! Thank you!

yes I have 6 different breeds, all seems to get along . Once in a while there will be pecking. If its for hobby, Any breed will be best for you, just have to find what you will like . Good Luck !!

I, too, have a "fruit salad" of a flock, with six different breeds. They all get along just fine.

Originally, I chose breeds that I thought were pretty or unusual. Then I learned that some breeds were more friendly than others. If it's calm friendly birds you want, Easter Eggers are very friendly as are Sussex, and very curious, too. Cochins are very pretty and are calm and cuddly.

Brahmas are intelligent and very calm. Wyandottes are real eye candy, but be careful if you end up with a rooster as he's liable to be a real tyrant. They're dynamite egg layers, though, but stand-offish.

I have Rhode island red, barred rock, easter eggers, white Leghorns, pearl guineas and ducks that all live together

My EE's are so gentle and will come to you ! plus I get pretty blues and green eggs ! My silkies are very tame you can pick them up without chasing them ! but not they are best egg layers. But choose any breeds you have your heart on because you have a life time of raising chickens !

I have a good mix, Houdans, Silkies, Ayam Cemani and Buff Orpingtons.
Personally I really like the temperment, utility, and apperance of all but the Orps. They are more common and a little larger than the others but really not enjoyable.
All the chickens get along well but when the mother in law brought the Orps in they were not as freindly and taught the other girls some bad habits.

In the end the breed does matter, but only a little bit. Each breed has its own personality and some are better suited for livestock and some are better for entertainment.
Dont worry about the chickens not getting along with each other, there will be minor spats no matter of the breed, worry more about you enjoying the chickens.

I agree with the above posters - they will get along - particularly if they are gotten as chicks. My 19 bird flock is made up of EEs, Gold and Silver-Laced Wyandottes, Delawares, Partridge Rock, Buff Orps, Black Autralorps, Ancona, Marans, and Red and Black Stars - all get along well.

Thanks to all going to a place on the other side of dallas its' chicken city! Probably sometime this week or next week!! Should I get them a as chicks or hens? I can't realy decide
