Do ducks eat less in colder weather?

I've noticed that my ducks have been eating less since it has been getting colder. Just wondering is this normal?

My experience is just the opposite: When it is really cold (frost) they won't find much food outside and gorge more on their pellets.

They usually go through 2-3 bowls of food a day and the past few days they have only went through 1 bowl a day. They all seem healthy, are drinking water. No odd behaviors. I live in NY so it is fall now and it is starting to get colder in the nights.

Mine are defiantly eating more since cooler weather has hit.

My birds eat less when they go out of production in the fall. They will eat more once temperatures get below zero here. So I get a reprieve in the fall from buying too much feed.

Typical ducks eat between .35 and .4 lbs per day per duck. If your feeding way more then that maybe something else is eating the feed.

OK, then my ducks are definitely not over-stuffing: A 50lbs bag of pellets lasts 7 days for 24 ducks; 50lbs ÷ 7d ÷ 24 ducks = 0.30lbs per duck per day.

This is my first year with ducks. Mine seem to be eating the same as normal, but I spoil them at bed time with warm duck pellet mash and a sprinkle of corn!
