O.K., so I want to hatch eggs this summer. However, my last three hatches have been FAILS. I don't know why. They were all store test eggs....was that the problem???On all of them, I didn't turn on day 1. One another 14/18 hatch, I used an egg turner. Do egg turners turn on Day 1?

Also, should I count the time I set them until I go to bed as Day 1?

Should I lockdown on Day 17 (what I did for the 14/18) or Day 18?

Thanks in advance.

Store bought eggs barely ever hatch. Most of them aren't even fertile.

i turned my eggs on day one.

I put mine in the bator within two hours of delivery and started the turner. Locked down on day 14. Hatched 70 out of 100.

As they say in stock prospectuses: "Past performance is not a guarantee of future results."

Oops. Just realized this is a chicken hatching thread. I was referring to coturnix quail, so disregard the lockdown date.

Sweetie, start with fresh eggs that you know are fertile.

Also, the day after you set them is day 1.

Lockdown is day 18, that's when you take the eggs out of the turner and lay them on their side-and do what you need too, to increase humidity. More water in the channels or sponges. Whatever works for you.
