Do eggs look different if there is a hen or a roo inside?

Interesting.....I have a little OEG bantam that is out and about. Too independant to live in the chicken barn so hangs out with the peafowl during the day and gets whatever food she can. Anyway she dissapeared for 3 weeks and turned up from under a barn with 7 chicks: one cockeral and 6 wee pullets. This is higher than average (I didn't need any of the oops chicks though)

Good Point Cassie. You're right- if the hatcheries could make or save more money that way it would be everyday practice.
Although sometimes industrialized farmers forgo "wives tales and folk wisdom" for science that can be proven and they may have missed something really good - but I like your 50% accuracy prediction on the method ha
