Do geese fear fire works? My sobostapols are city birds and are used to loud motorcycles, sirens, cars honking, etc. When they hear pyrotechnic fireworks, they continue sleeping or taking a swim. They dont react. That might also be because they hear fireworks year round and have adjusted. Any feedback? Thanks

Mine only hear fireworks around New Year's Eve, but they just react briefly to the really loud bangers or if it's very close. They're way more wary of the helicopters they see every single day.

In general it seems geese don't mind loud noises, unless they're very unusual. Mine don't care about loud hammering, power saws, angle grinders, or generators. But they panicked over the squeaky noise it made when my neighbor was pulling nails out of wet boards.

My goslings (around a month old) do get fearful over very strange sounds - like a grinder or similar going - but they seem to recover very quickly, especially if they notice I don't react to the noise. They're nowhere near as spooky as my ducks were.
As I was reading this post, fireworks went off. They gave a little squawk and looked at me but that was it. They were a little more afraid and confused when the two huge military helicopters flew over a week ago, but both times they looked and came to me.

Isn't it neat? My pair is slowly becoming more independent, but they still look to me for safety & comfort.

I love it but would like to do yard work with out my foursome helping. If I pull out the power tools they head about 20-30 feet away but weeding their practically on my lap. But hey at least we’re bonded.

Oh, they definitely think all activities require goose supervision. :lau My fishpond is in my "goose yard" - and they definitely thought they were doing me a favor by standing on me and trying to put their head in the bucket as I was cleaning it. I thought otherwise.

:yuckyuck Oh my, I can see my Shimmer doing that. I guess they aren't scared of you anymore.
