I've heard some stuff here and there about how chicks from hatcheries are less likely to get broody/don't get broody at all. Myth or fact? If it is true, why? I'm a little skeptical to be honest..

Skepticism is good.
Supposedly they have had broodiness 'bred out of them'.
It's a crap shoot whether a bird will go broody or not.
Not much with chickens is absolute.

I've not had any hatchery chickens but I don't believe something as basic as reproduction can be bred out of any creature. I believe given the right conditions you can get broody hatchery hens.
