I just got rid of all my roosters on Saturday and now I hear crowing from the chicken coop. Do hens crow? Or do I have another rooster? I'v heard about hens acting like a rooster when there is no rooster around, but the only thing she does that makes me think shes a he is the crowing. Here is a picture of her. This was taken a couple of weeks ago. Her comb and wattles have gotten a little bigger and redder, but not much. Thanks

Often when you get rid of dominate rooster, a roo that was subservient to the other roos will then start to develop and take over the spot that is now free.

Thank You. I guess I have to re-home him now. Do you know what color he is?

Red, would be my guess. What is he? I'm probably looking for a roo to replace the one who is pecking on my chickens. Where are you in Idaho? I'm in Montana.

Missoula (outside -- no roo restrictions). What's the breed?

I got him from the feed store and he is a Banty Cochin. Are you interested in him?
