I have a pullet (I thought) but she/he has started to crow. She is only 2 months old. She is a Barred Plymouth Rock, she looks just like the pictures I've seen of young hens. So my questions is. Do hens crow. And what do I look for to tell if she/he is a roo?

of the barred rock you are talking about is in your avatar..then I looks to be a rooster due to the lighter color of him....Barred rock roosters have a double barring gene that makes them appear lighter than hens...but to be certain I would need a recent pic of his body and him facing the camera and also a side view of his head would be more helpful.

Glad you joined us! A key thing to look for is a rooster will be more aggressive(I was recently at a store selling chicks and there was one they thought was a rooster, and if the guy(employee) put his hand in, the little one would stand its ground and peck his finger. He would then tap the little one's head. This went on some 20 times and was funny). Pictures of the rooster will help for deciding, like Lots a Cluckin said.
