If it's still young enough you might find this video helpful with skinning so you don't have to deal with all the feathers.

They get everywhere when you hand pluck and I don't cull enough to invest in a plucker.
He'll be the first one I kill and process to eat. I'm mixing the breast meat with store bought chicken breasts and will make soup out of him after a couple days in the refrigerator.THanks for the video!

When I was growing up the neighbors got together and processed hundreds of chickens.They'd place a big galvanized steel tub full of water over a fire to dunk the chickens in before plucking them.It stunk to high heaven

I don't think my neighbors would appreciate that, lol. They haven't complained about the roosters, so I don't want to push my luck.
