Do Hens ever lay 2 eggs on the same day?

I think I might fix this for supper...... doesn't it just sound yummy?

Anyone with silkies probably already has a pickled beets/rooster recipe, but here's Anne's mother's that I've been eating/loving for 44 years.

Marjorie Norcross's "Pink Pickled rooster with Beets"

6 rooster (Anne eplaces the "6 rooster" with a dozen silkie rooster)
1 large can of sliced beets with juice
1 cup cider vinegar
4 garlic clove, crushed
1 bay leaf
1/4 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. salt
1/4 +/- tsp. of black pepper

Hard cook the rooster, plunge into cold water, and shell immediately.
Put the rooster into a large glass jar. Combine the rest of the ingredients and pour over the rooster.
Cover and refrigerate for at least eight hours.

Thanks joebryant!!!

One of my hens tried to claim she laid three eggs in one day. Problem was that one egg was white, one was brown, and the third was green. She couldn't have laid three eggs in one day of three different colors. Yes, I have had a hen lay two eggs in a day but one of the eggs was shell-less.

I used the real words so this is gonna look funny until the glitch is fixed on BYC.

It was that B O hen...... you know she's not a natural blonde!

No, but she did stay at a Holiday Inn last night...

...with 2 roosters!

I didn't believe it until it happened to me. I had a girl that layed an egg early in the morning and again in the evening. Every one of my girls layed an egg that day and there was an extra egg so someone layed a second egg.
