do hens have breaks from their chicks

I would put the chicks with mom and see what she does. At 2 days old, they are ready to be out of the box and learning to eat from mom. If she doesn't take care of them, then I would take them away.

Ok well it late at night here so I will put them with her and if she gets off I'll do my plane and leave the 2 strongest and take the 3 youngest

I went out just before and found the mother perching without her chicks I put her back on and she sat beside them not on them so I picked her up and put her on them she didn't peck me once she didn't even make a noise
