Do hens molt at the same time? ok to not lay for 2mts ?

I have finally found someone with Ameraucana hens close to where I live.
They're 16 months old and the fellow says he thinks they have been molting because they stopped laying about two months and their feathers are just starting to grow back in.

does this sound right? is it normal for them to all molt at the same time? would they go 2 whole months with out laying?

I haven't seen the birds but he is going to meet me so I can see them and it's about an hour drive for both of us. I don't want him to make the drive if you all think this sounds odd.

what do you think??

Mine do not molt at the same time. It can take a couple of months for more eggs depending on how severe it is.

I have 75 hens in diferent pins that all molted abot the same time some went quik and some are still not laying

Thank you for the reply and for the links, I'll check them out for sure. I spoke to the boys dad (I thought he was a grown up) and found out that they were ill so I'm just gonna hold off and keep looking. Thanks again tho!
