Fairborn OH
We just got some "hens" today and put them in with our trio, and some of them were strutting around like toms. I was told they were hens and all over a year old, I didn't know hens strutted like toms, is this normal? When I figure out how to post a pic, I'll add it to the post...

Here is a picture of what I am talking about, (the bronze is a gobbler) The others are hens....

We have a Black Spanish hen that will strut after she is bred. When Tom finishes and she gets up she struts around just like him.
We're not sure if she is bragging to the other hens or mad at Tom.... lol

I just had never heard of this and we get these girls home and they all are fine and then poof out of nowhere most of the new ones begin to strut around and we are like oh no they lied to us and sold us a bunch of jakes! It was so weird looking to see my whole pen of hens strutting around and such...but after a few minutes of them strutting around and "fighting" a bit the TOm had had enough and went around and slapped the girls with his wing a bit and they all settled down pretty quickly after that. It was really interesting to watch!

I'm glad this was posted. I am sure that I have a tom and thought I had a hen too but I noticed her strutting around my chicken the other day and thought oh no I have two tom's.
